Safety During Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Essential oilsĀ can be used during pregnancy and breastfeedingābut with extra caution & only under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
During Pregnancy:
- Stick toĀ gentle oilsĀ likeĀ Lavender, Chamomile, Frankincense, &Citrus oils
- Avoid oils known to stimulate the uterus or cause contractions (e.g.Ā Clary Sage, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Wintergreen)
- AlwaysĀ use proper dilutionĀ (typically 1% or less) & avoid applying near the abdomen in the first trimester
- Diffusing is generally considered safer than topical use
While Breastfeeding:
- Use onlyĀ mild, baby-safe oils
- Avoid applying oils directly to the chest where the baby may come into contact
- Monitor for any skin reactions or sensitivity in both mom & baby
