How to Build a Simple All-Natural Skincare Routine for Your Skin Type

"It seems like a fad."

"I'm a mom, so there's no way I have time to structure a personal skincare routine."

(Or, my favorite.) "It seems so selfish."

These reasons for not building a skincare routine for your skin type seem so natural, except that they don't pay off in the long run. It is absolutely possible as a busy mom to have a quick, easy, all-natural skincare routine that is even catered to your skin type. It may sound impossible but keep reading to find out how.

1. Know Your Skin Type First

Before choosing products, identify whether your skin is dry, oily, combination, sensitive, or normal. This determines which natural ingredients and product textures will work best for you. You can have a mixed skin type (as combination suggests) based on the region of your face. It's not too difficult to determine. Just consider if you tend to break out, where that happens.

Making some basic observations can get you a long way. As an example, my jawline and forehead tend to get oily; whereas, my nose and cheeks are often dry. If you break out or get uncomfortable with some over the counter skincare products, you probably have sensitive skin.

2. Start with a Gentle, Natural Cleanser

Use a mild cleanser with simple ingredients to remove dirt and oil without stripping your skin’s moisture barrier. This is important because most commercial skincare cleansers are REALLY harsh. They don't just remove dirt; they also strip your skin of all its natural moisture, leaving you with dry, irritated skin that is essentially left naked to dirt. A good, gentle cleanser will also moisturize for protection after cleansing.

3. Incorporate a Balancing Toner

Choose a toner that suits your skin type: witch hazel for oily or acne-prone skin, rose water for dry or sensitive skin. It helps restore pH balance and tighten pores naturally. These are my favorites because a good toner will literally cause your pores to feel like they are tightening up, locking in a

ll that good moisturizer and keeping the dirt and unwanted oil out!

4. Use a Nourishing Facial Oil or Moisturizer

Select oils based on your skin’s needs:

  • Jojoba or RoseHip Oil for oily skin
  • Beeswax or Golden Jojoba Oil for dry or aging skin

Or, if you want to make it even easier on yourself, trust the professionals! Take a quick look at our ingredients and you'll find these oils in most of our products!

5. Exfoliate 1–2 Times a Week with Natural Ingredients

Exfoliate gently with ground oats, sugar, or coffee grounds to slough off dead skin and boost radiance. A good exfoliate will, through gentle abrasion, remove unwanted build-up without damaging your skin while also moisturizing. Do be careful to avoid over-exfoliating, though, as even the softest scrub can cause irritation.

6. Choose Targeted Natural Treatments as Needed

As a final step, add simple treatments like a tea tree oil spot treatment for blemishes or a turmeric face mask for brightening.

The key is KEEP IT MINIMAL and tailored to your skin’s specific needs. We all know that if a routine isn't simple, we may commit to it for a week or two at best, but it won't stick. In order to make something a habit, we need to establish a simple routine and then STICK TO IT.

You've got this! We are rooting for you! ;)
