Happy Father's Day - A Tribute

Happy Father's Day - A Tribute

It’s time to show some support for the men that are constantly supporting, loving, and holding up our families: our dads, grandfathers, and husbands.  In order to best do that, we thought we would hear from you – our Rooted for Good community.  Some time ago, we asked you to answer a few questions about fatherhood, what you think these valued men like most, and your favorite memories of your own Dad.  Kick back, grab a cool drink, and take a look at some of these amazing responses we got back.

What gifts does your Father like to receive?

  • He doesn’t and it makes me crazy lol
  • Beard balm, grilling accessories, books, candles (believe it or not-the man smelly ones of course), dinner out with the family/spouse
  • Sentimental gifts, from memories or inside jokes or shared experiences. Things that celebrate both the past and our current relationship
  • Coffee, fitness, and sandals
  • Tools, religious items, clothes, accessories

What is something you think Father's would wish their children would tell them on Father's Day?

  • “I love you!”
  • How they are grateful for the many sacrificial acts they do for them and the family (working hard to provide, spending time with kids, etc).
  • “I appreciate the wisdom you share and the sacrifices you've made: it's made a tangible difference in my life. I'm proud to be your child.”
  • For them to grow in holiness and to become great examples of God’s love
  • That they are loved and appreciated
  • “I appreciate you and respect you.”

What words do you think Father's want to hear from their spouses on Father's Day?

  • Maybe even more than words, I think many husbands may appreciate good quality time with family and a little extra attention that day…and FOOD!
  • “You are a blessing to our children.  The small but consistent sacrifices you make are changing our family and the world.”
  • “You are enough. You are strong and brave and are doing so much good for our family!”
  • That he’s a good father.  That we feel loved and protected by him. That we’re grateful for how he leads our family.
  • “I appreciate you, I respect you and I love you.”

If your Father could pick his own Father's Day gift, what would it be?

  • A nice visit over a cup of coffee!!
  • To go for a hike with his children
  • Cheap sunglasses or tools
  • Some sort of beard kit with religious accessories
  • Quite possibly a St. Benedict tattoo

What is your favorite memory you have with your Father?

  • Trips taken to daily Mass and then getting ice cream afterwards!
  • Hiking with him, or the memories of him coaching me in high school sports
  • Attending my basketball games and taking me to Acapulco.
  • Going to workshops at Lowe's and home Depot
  • My dad passed in September but before he did we were able to get him into his pool for the final time. He was so happy.

What is your favorite quote on Fatherhood?

  • “Father = the head of the family that teaches by example and inspires his children to be the best that they can be.”
  • “God assigns as a duty to every man the dignity of every woman.” - Pope St. JPII
  • “The best thing you can do for your children is love your wife!”

Let’s give a round of applause to all our dad’s, grandparents, and husbands today!
You all deserve it!

From all of us at Rooted for Good, Happy Father’s Day!

Growing and Learning Together,

Anna Berlinger
